Animated Short- Artists Research

The first piece of VR we looked at was an animated short suggested by Aaron which is called Pearl and is about a young girl and her dad. This is a VR animated short that was nominated for Best Short Film (Animated) unfortunately they did not win but it is still an extreme accomplishment.

As we were having a group discussion we felt it was best to go the abstract root as we would be using an audio clip to drive our narrative and using the visual aspects to aid the audio rather than the audio aid the animation.

This next animator I looked at is called Oliver Latta who I found on Instagram I absoultely love his work and I thought it was very fitting for what I envisioned for my team. As we are looking into abstract to infiltrate into our project what I was looking for is visual imagery that will help drive the story but also might distort the viewer into second guessing there first thought.

Then I began looking into something simpler below is a little clip that I found that I found extremely cute. I think I have to remember that we haven’t used this program but I also think that I need to be more adventurous.

Florian Thamer is amotion designer that I also found on Instagram.

What I liked about his work was that it was very unique it wasn’t something I couldn’t forget about while researching other artists to me this stuck out. I think his work tells a simple story through amazing visuals.

Next I looked into some real abstract work, work like this hasn’t ever applied to me when I was working previous but I think this type of style would really suit the work were going to be producing for this project.

The artists below I looked at based on the style I think each one of there work is unique and overall really beautiful. I think this type of style is what I really want for the project as I think it will have a nice aesthetic.
